Mission, vision & values

Everything we do is about shifting the experience of NDIS supports — from confusing and transactional, to human, clear and life-changing.

Our mission

To walk beside people with disability and their families, building independence, confidence and connection through high-quality, culturally safe NDIS supports.

  • Listening first, so we understand your story, culture and goals.
  • Co-designing supports with you — not doing things to you.
  • Turning everyday routines into opportunities for growth.

Our vision

Communities where people with disability are included, respected and empowered to design the life they choose.

  • People with disability recognised as experts in their own lives.
  • Supports that honour culture, language, faith and family.
  • Systems that are easier to navigate, with providers who walk the journey with you.

Our values in action

  • Respect & dignity: We greet you by name, ask before we act and protect your privacy.
  • Choice & control: You choose who supports you, how and when.
  • Safety & accountability: NDIS Practice Standards, honest feedback, quick fixes.
  • Cultural humility: We keep learning and make space for your beliefs.
  • Joy & connection: Support should feel warm, hopeful and fun.

The NDIS in numbers

The NDIS is one of Australia's biggest social investments — changing what support looks like for hundreds of thousands of people with disability.

750k+

Australians benefiting from the NDIS

More than 751,000 people are benefiting from the NDIS — over half receiving disability support for the first time.

$49 b

Annual investment in disability support

Around $49 billion in personalised disability supports in 2024–25, making it one of Australia's largest social programs.

More young people in work

NDIS participants aged 15–24 in paid work has more than doubled since the Scheme began.

Behind these numbers are individual stories. At Al Amira we focus on turning your funding into the day-to-day support you actually need.

Real lives, real change

Every participant's journey is different. Here's one example of what person-centred support looks like in practice.

From uncertainty to independence: Sara's journey with Al Amira

When Sara joined Al Amira Disability Services, she was at a turning point. Like many participants, she had questions about her NDIS plan, wasn't fully across her rights, and hadn't yet had the chance to understand the documents and processes that come with choosing a provider. She needed a fresh start with a team she could trust.

We met her where she was. We took the time to sit with Sara, walk her through every document before anything was signed, and make sure she genuinely understood what she was entitled to as a participant. No rushing, no jargon — just honest, clear conversation.

From there, we got to work. We supported Sara with her daily living activities, were present during difficult emotional moments, and helped her gradually build her confidence and her connection to the community around her.

The transformation we witnessed was something special. Sara went from feeling too uncertain to step outside her home alone, to independently venturing into her community — curious, capable, and excited about what was ahead of her.

At Al Amira, we believe every participant deserves to be fully informed, genuinely supported, and given the space to grow. Watching Sara find her confidence was a reminder of exactly why we do this work.
