Mission, vision & values

Everything we do at Al Amira Disability Services is about shifting the experience of NDIS supports – from feeling confusing and transactional, to feeling human, clear and genuinely life-changing.

Our mission

To walk beside people with disability and their families, building independence, confidence and connection through high-quality, culturally safe NDIS supports.

  • Listening first, so we understand your story, culture and goals.
  • Co-designing supports with you – not doing things to you.
  • Turning everyday routines into opportunities for growth and confidence.

Our vision

Communities where people with disability are included, respected and empowered to design the life they choose.

  • People with disability recognised as experts in their own lives.
  • Supports that honour culture, language, faith and family.
  • Systems that are easier to navigate, with providers who walk the journey with you.

Our values in action

  • Respect & dignity: We greet you by name, ask before we act and protect your privacy.
  • Choice & control: You choose who supports you, how and when – and we adapt when things change.
  • Safety & accountability: We follow NDIS Practice Standards, welcome feedback and fix issues quickly.
  • Cultural humility: We keep learning, ask questions respectfully and make space for your culture and beliefs.
  • Joy & connection: We believe support should feel warm, hopeful and fun – not just “service delivery”.

The NDIS in numbers

The NDIS is one of the biggest social investments in Australia’s history – and it’s changing what support looks like for hundreds of thousands of people with disability.

750k+

Australians benefiting from the NDIS

As of late 2025, more than 751,000 people are benefiting from the NDIS – and over half are receiving disability support for the first time in their lives.

$49 b

Annual investment in disability support

The Scheme is forecast to invest around $49 billion in personalised disability supports in 2024–25, making it one of Australia’s largest social programs.

More young people in work

Outcome data shows the number of NDIS participants aged 15–24 in paid work has more than doubled since the Scheme began – proof that the right supports open real opportunities.

Behind these big numbers are individual stories. At Al Amira Disability Services we focus on making sure your funding actually turns into the day-to-day support you need.

Client stories – real lives, real change

Every plan is different. Here’s one example of how the right mix of supports helped one family feel less overwhelmed and more hopeful.

Meet Sam and his mum, Aisha*

Sam is a 15-year-old with autism who loves basketball and video games. Before joining the NDIS, Aisha was doing everything on her own – appointments, school meetings, personal care and trying to keep Sam connected with friends.

When they came to Al Amira Disability Services, we sat down together to understand their culture, routines and worries. Together, we mapped Sam’s goals – feeling more confident outside the house, building life skills and giving Aisha time to breathe.

  • Daily personal activities support before and after school.
  • Community and group activities built around sport and social skills.
  • Life skills coaching – money handling, travel training and communication.
  • Regular check-ins with Aisha so supports stay flexible and manageable.

*Name and details changed to protect privacy, but the story reflects real outcomes we aim for with families we support.

Before the NDIS I felt like I was drowning. Now Sam has support workers he actually looks forward to seeing, and I have time to be his mum again – not just his case manager.

Understanding the NDIS – with Al Amira by your side

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds supports for eligible people with disability so they can work towards their goals and live more independently.

How can Al Amira Disability Services help?

We help you understand your plan, match supports to your goals, and coordinate services in a way that feels calm, clear and manageable.

Who can use your services?

We support NDIS participants of all ages, as well as families and carers who are part of their support network. We welcome people from all cultural and religious backgrounds.

Do you work with support coordinators?

Yes. We regularly collaborate with support coordinators, LACs, therapists and other providers to offer joined-up, holistic support. With your consent, we keep everyone updated so your plan works together, not in pieces.

Are you a registered NDIS provider?

Yes. Al Amira Disability Services is a registered NDIS provider with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. This means we are regularly checked against the NDIS Practice Standards to make sure our services are safe, respectful and high quality.

How do I apply for NDIS support?

To access the NDIS you usually need to be under 65, live in Australia, meet residency requirements and have a permanent and significant disability. You can start an access request by contacting the NDIS, through your GP or specialist. We’re happy to talk you through the steps and documents you may need.

Can I choose my own support worker?

Yes. Choice and control are central to the NDIS. We’ll introduce you to suitable workers and you can tell us who you feel comfortable with. If a match isn’t right, we’ll work with you to find someone who is – with no pressure.

How is my NDIS funding determined?

The NDIS looks at your functional needs, goals and existing supports, then decides what is “reasonable and necessary” to help you reach those goals. Your funding is grouped into different budgets (Core, Capacity Building, Capital). We can help you understand your plan and how to use each budget effectively.

Can I receive support outside of business hours?

Yes, in many cases. We offer early morning, evening and weekend supports where this aligns with your goals and funding. We’ll discuss your routines and build a roster that works for you, including any relevant NDIS pricing for after-hours services.

Ready to talk about your NDIS plan?

We’re here to listen first, then support you to build a plan – and a routine – that truly fits your life.
